~ Jamshedpur get their first ever victory over FC Goa ~

A brace from the effervescent Michael Soosairaj helped Jamshedpur claim their first ever victory over FC Goa on Thursday night. His strikes in the 17th and 50th minutes of the games coupled with goals from Memo and Sumeet Passi helped the Steelmen record a 4-1 triumph over the Gaurs.

For FC Goa, it was Mourtada Fall who bagged his second of the season.

The home side came off the blocks quicker to begin the game. The early goings saw Mohammad Nawaz tested with the youngster pulling off a stunning save from Sergio Cidoncha's free-kick in the 3rd minute of the game.

Their persistent pressure finally paid dividends when the ball from a corner in the 17th minute bounced around the box before making its way to an unmarked Soosairaj at the back post. The winger made no mistake to slot it past the onrushing Nawaz to give the hosts an early lead.

Goa looked to get back into the thick of things quickly and Hugo Boumous nearly pulled the Gaurs back on level terms when his shot from the edge of the box crashed against the upright in the 26th minute.

Their endeavours were finally met with success in the 33rd minute. A free-kick from the right-hand touchline from Boumous was flicked on by Edu Bedia at the near post. Fall, at the back post, was the quickest to react and slotted the header into the corner of the net to bring the Gaurs level.

The start of the second half mirrored the first as the home side piled on the pressure. It was Soosairaj again who gave all that pressure some meaning as he put Jamshedpur ahead in the 50th minute. A surging run from the winger on the left helped him get past Seriton before he calmly put the ball beyond the onrushing Nawaz.

Whilst Goa created a few half-chances courtesy Edu Bedia’s attempts on goal from distance, the killer blow came in the 77th minute when the ball fell kindly to Memo at the edge of the box following a scramble off of a corner. The Brazilian, who is known for his ability as a defensive midfielder, showed another dimension to his game as he fired a devestating strike into the top corner leaving Nawaz rooted to his spot.

The icing on the cake for Jamshedpur was put on a minute later. Carlos Calvo ended his brilliant run on the right with an equally brilliant ball into the box for Sumeet Passi to tap in.

The result sees Jamshedpur move into third place. Goa, remain second on the table – ahead of Jamshedpur owing to a greater goal difference.

The Gaurs will look to bounce back from this set back on the 8th of November when they host the Delhi Dynamos at Fatorda.
