FC Goa is an Indian professional football franchise based in Goa that competes in the Indian Super League. The club was launched on 26th August 2014 and is owned by Goan Football Club Pvt. Ltd. which consists of Mr. Jaydev Mody, Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Mr. Ashish Kapadia, Mr. Akshay Tandon and the national cricket team captain, Mr. Virat Kohli.

Legendary Brazilian footballer, Arthur Antunes Coimbra (Zico) was the club's Manager (Head Coach) for the first three seasons of the Indian Super League. Former Brazilian skipper, World Cup winner and UEFA Champions League winner, Lucio joined the team for the second season and stayed with the club till the end of the third season of the tournament.

Former Barcelona youth coach Sergio Lobera Rodriguez takes the reigns from Zico for the fourth season. Sergio began his journey with coaching at the famed La Masia academy in Spain at a young age and has plied his trade in various places before coming to Goa.

The squad comprises a vibrant mix of youth and experience and has one of the biggest contingents of local players. Goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani and winger Mandar Rao Dessai have been with the club since its inception and were the two players retained by the franchise ahead of the third season. Other local players include midfielders Brandon Fernandes, Seriton Fernandes, Pratesh Shirodkar, defenders Mohammed Ali and Jovel Martins among others. The squad also boasts of Indian national team players in Narayan Das and Pronay Halder who both return for a second stint with the Gaurs.

Defender Bruno Pinheiro who was an important part of the first team set up in the first year of the tournament returns for his second stint with the club. Moroccan international midfielder Ahmed Jahouh also joined the Gaurs for the fourth season along with a host technically sound Spanish players.

The club has always strived for success on the pitch and this is evident from the way the team has played through its journey in the Indian Super League.

The club play their home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa in front of close to 20,000 supporters which has helped make their home a fortress.

Head coach – Sergio Lobera Rodriguez

The Indian Super League has grown in stature since its inception and subsequently, FC Goa has grown as a franchise too. Having achieved a good measure of success under legendary Brazilian, Zico, the club is ready to take the next step. Spaniard Sergio Lobera Rodriguez joins the club as the new head coach and is looking forward to achieving immediate success.

Sergio started his managerial career at a very young age back in Spain. It wasn’t long before his ability was noticed and in 1997, he signed with Catalan giants, FC Barcelona. The La Masia academy in Barcelona is known to produce word class talent on a regular basis with the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and a host of other players coming through its ranks. Sergio spent almost 10 years at Barcelona. He was given the reigns of the Barcelona C team during this team.

In May 2010, Sergio joined CD San Roque as the manager on a three year deal but soon moved on to AD Cueta in the Segunda Division B. In 2012, Tito Vilanova took over as head coach of FC Barcelona and Sergio was named as his assistant manager. However, a month later, he signed on with Segunda Division side UD Las Palmas as their head coach. His premier season as full time manager saw his team finish the league in sixth with a defeat to eventually promoted UD Almeria.

His next assignment saw him move to Morocco after he signed for Moghreb Tetouan before eventually joining FC Goa. Sergio insists that his primary focus is to achieve results on the pitch and in conjunction with assistant coach, Derrick Perreira, he will look to help the club achieve its main target of winning the Indian Super League.

Our history in Indian football will hold our team in good stead and fight a good fight in the first edition of the Hero Indian Super League.

PJN Stadium, Fatorda

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa is the home ground for FC Goa in the Hero Indian Super League. The stadium is widely considered to be one of the best in the country. The venue has been a mainstay of Indian football, having played host to a number of international games over the years. The stadium will also be used to host the FIFA U-17 World Cup scheduled to be held across India in October 2017.

The stadium was completed in the year 1989 and in 2014, it was renovated and upgraded according to the latest FIFA specifications. It has a seating capacity of about 19,800 and has a 100 per cent roof covering, providing spectators with ample seating area and comfortable seats in a two tier configuration. The West stand of the stadium houses the VIP and VVIP areas, along with the media centre, hospitality and commentators box. The stadium is regarded as one of the most well-maintained football grounds in the Indian sub-continent.
